Digital Doorstep is a study in armchair travel photography - the search for strong images and the making of great pictures, all taken within a mile of your home. The pictures should tell the story of the place and paint a picture of its character.
This is a project for which I am seeking collaboration with worldwide lovers of the visual image, whether you are a professional photographer or not.
The aim of the project is to provoke a new approach to the familiar - to see your own place and surroundings as if for the first time - imagining you have just arrived there and stepped off a plane or train, with the task of capturing the feel of the place and presenting it to the world.
The genre of photography may be Travel, Reportage, Landscape, you decide. Equipment is not important - good photography is made in the mind.
Subject to the response received the objective is to launch an online exhibition of the results with all contributors acknowledged and referenced. Groups or schools are also welcome with sets being compiled from the combined efforts of individual members or students.
If you wish to take part in the Digital Doorstep project please email me with initial details. Compilation of finished images for display will be arranged at a later date when the project has a decent number of collaborators.
All images for final display should ideally be imbedded with the author’s name, image location and date and author’s copyright notice, if you don’t have software for this we will make some arrangements to get this done for you.
Above all – be inspired.
